Crown FC Electric Forklift
Inspection Guide

An electric counterbalance lift where the battery pack and drive system are the whole cost. A tired pack quietly halves the value.

Crown's FC series is a common electric counterbalance forklift. On any electric lift, the battery pack is the dominant cost and the drive motor and controller are next, so we test the electrical system as hard as the mast.

Known problem areas — what we check
Costly Safety Common Verify
Battery pack & cells Costly

A worn battery pack is the single biggest electric-lift cost.

CHECK Test pack voltage under load, check cell condition, and review pack age and watering history.

Drive motor & controller Costly

Drive motor and controller faults are expensive.

CHECK Road test for power and scan for controller faults.

Mast, chains & forks Safety

Chains and forks affect safety and capacity.

CHECK Measure chain stretch and fork wear.

Hydraulics (lift drift) Common

Lift cylinders drift when worn.

CHECK Raise a load and check for drift.

Brakes & tires Common

Brakes and tires wear.

CHECK Test braking and inspect tires.

Model-specific focus points
  • Load-test the battery pack and check its age
  • Road test drive motor and scan controller
  • Measure chains and forks
  • Check hydraulic drift
  • Verify the charger
