The 289D is a widely used compact track loader, often run hard in rental service. The undercarriage and final drives are the dominant costs and wear far faster than a wheeled machine.
Tracks, rollers, sprockets, and idlers wear fast.
CHECK Measure wear and estimate remaining life.
Final-drive failure is a major expense.
CHECK Listen while driving and check for leaks and uneven pull.
Drive and aux hydraulics weaken with use.
CHECK Drive for pull/creep and test aux under load.
Pivots and cylinders wear and leak.
CHECK Check pin play and cylinder drift loaded.
Compact bays run hot and carry emissions.
CHECK Check the cooler and verify regen.
