A best-selling CTL where the undercarriage and final drives are the whole game — they wear fast and cost big. Rental hours are often brutal.
The Cat 259D is one of the most popular compact track loaders ever, which means many have lived hard rental lives. On a CTL the undercarriage — rubber tracks, rollers, sprockets, idlers — and the final drives are the dominant costs, and they wear far faster than a wheeled machine. We measure them rather than trust the hour meter.
Rubber tracks, rollers, sprockets, and idlers wear quickly and cost a lot to renew.
CHECK Measure track and component wear and estimate remaining life.
Final-drive failure is a major CTL expense.
CHECK Listen while driving, check for leaks, and feel for uneven pull.
Hydrostatic and auxiliary hydraulic wear weakens drive and attachments.
CHECK Drive on level ground for pulling/creep and test auxiliary hydraulics under load.
Pivot pins and cylinders wear and leak.
CHECK Check pin play and cylinder drift with the bucket loaded.
Compact engine bays run hot and carry emissions systems.
CHECK Check the cooler for packing/debris and verify regen.
