A capable wheeled skid steer where the hydrostatic drive, chaincase, and hydraulics tell the truth about its hours.
The Cat 262 is a common high-capacity skid steer. As with any skid steer, the hydrostatic drive and chaincase carry the value, and the auxiliary hydraulics matter for attachment work.
Drive-motor wear causes pulling and creep.
CHECK Drive straight and check for creep with controls centered.
Stretched chains and low oil cause slop.
CHECK Check chaincase oil and drivetrain slack.
Lift and aux hydraulics weaken and drift.
CHECK Check lift drift and test aux hydraulics.
Linkage pins wear and create slop.
